About

The Victorian Government is making it easier for commuters to catch the train by building and upgrading more car parks at train stations across the state.

About Car Parks for Commuters

The Victorian Government’s Car Parks for Commuters program has delivered over 16,000 new and upgraded car parks across Victorian stations to date, with 5000 additional new and upgraded spaces to come. This will free up local streets and make it easier to catch the train.

The program also delivers improved accessibility, CCTV and lighting as well as more bicycle parking facilities at key locations, making it easier to ride or walk to catch the train.

The Department of Transport and Planning is leading this program on behalf of the Victorian Government. Some sites are being delivered in partnership with the Australian Government through its Urban Congestion Fund.

Delivery and construction of car parks is being supported by VicTrack, Rail Projects Victoria, the Level Crossing Removal Project and local councils.
