The Victorian Government is working in partnership with the Australian Government to deliver new car parking spaces at Eltham Station.
The new car park will feature improved CCTV and lighting.
This project is being delivered by the Level Crossing Removal Project and funded by the Victorian Government and the Australian Government’s Urban Congestion Fund.
To support the delivery of new and upgraded car parks at this site and the planning approvals process, we undertook a process of community consultation to ensure that the views of local residents and station users were considered.
Planning Approvals Consultation Summary
We invited local residents and interested stakeholders to provide feedback on the designs as well as key local values we should consider through detailed design. The public consultation period was open from 9 August until 6 September 2021, with feedback captured through the Victorian Government’s online engagement platform Engage Victoria, as well as mail and email.
What we heard
Flora and Fauna
You told us about the connection to local flora and fauna, in particular the large trees that provide shading and visual amenity to the station and current car park.
Submissions also covered design and landscaping, with an emphasis on the design meeting the ‘Green Wedge’ values of the local area.
Various submissions requested we ensure safety is a top priority of the design.
Feedback was included in a public consultation summary report which informed the Minister for Planning’s assessment of the projects under Clause 52.03. Feedback was also provided to the design and project teams for consideration for the final design.
