The Victorian Government is delivering 50 new car parking spaces at Wattle Glen Station.
The new car park will feature improved CCTV and lighting as well as more bicycle parking facilities.
The project is being delivered by the Level Crossing Removal Project and funded by the Victorian Government.
To support the delivery of new and upgraded car parks at this site and the planning approvals process, we undertook a process of community consultation to ensure that the views of local residents and station users were considered.
Planning Approvals Consultation Summary
We invited local residents and interested stakeholders to provide feedback on the designs as well as key local values we should consider through detailed design. The public consultation period was open from 9 August until 6 September 2021, with feedback captured through the Victorian Government’s online engagement platform Engage Victoria, as well as mail and email.
What we heard
Submissions covered urban design and landscaping, with an emphasis on the design protecting rural vistas and the landscape character of Wattle Glen.
The location of the new car spaces were also raised, noting an interest to retain new spaces within the existing station precinct
Flora and fauna
Lastly, a regular theme of comments was protection of existing flora and fauna at the project site.
Feedback was included in a public consultation summary report which informed the Minister for Planning’s assessment of the projects under Clause 52.03. Feedback was also provided to the design and project teams for consideration for the final design.
